All artists, graphic designers, students, teachers and creative enthusiasts:
we need you!
Can you design a poster to support the campaign to stop the expansion of coal projects in WA?
Your poster could be something inspiring, something confronting, something catchy, something funny, something informative....
We need posters that can be available for free download from our website, so that anyone can print them out and put them up, to raise awareness about the issues, spark conversations, and inspire people to get involved in creating the momentum in the community for taking a step towards reducing our greenhouse gas emissions.
We will display a selection of the posters at the "Safe Climate is a Human Right" rally on December 11.
We can all think of lots of good reasons to say "yes" to renewable energy and "no" to the proposed new coal mines, ports, power plants and other coal projects proposed or approved for WA - can you help us convey that to others?
Words on a page, speeches, letters, leaflets and petitions all have a role to play in informing our minds and appealing to the intellect.
But art can touch our hearts! It can simplify complicated things and express emotions as well as ideas.
Can you help us grab people's attention with fact or feeling or a mixture of the two?
Teachers: can you invite your students to participate?

CAMPAIGN INFORMATION
The state government has approved or is considering coal projects that will increase WA's greenhouse gas emissions, even though climate science tells us we need to drastically reduce greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere. There's more info here about some of the projects we've heard about.
Safe Climate Perth is a grassroots climate action group that is campaigning for a safe climate for all people, all species, and all generations. We're campaigning to stop the new coal projects and expand renewable energy instead, as a first step for WA to take to stop the blow-out of our greenhouse gas emissions and head towards zero - the level we need to play our part in protecting the climate.
We're collecting signatures on a petition that we'll be presenting to state parliament at a rally on December 11.

The demands of the campaign are for
- no expansion of coal infrastructure (mines, power stations, dedicated port/rail facilities);
- cancellation of approval for the 5 new/refurbished coal-fired power stations (Muja A&B and Bluewaters 3&4 in Collie, and Coolimba near Eneabba);
- Verve Energy (which is government-owned) to use only renewable energy sources to supply new power needs;
- development of publicly-owned renewable energy infrastructure (including wind and concentrating solar thermal); and
- offer of work with equivalent pay and conditions for all workers in the coal industry in the transition to renewable energy.
