Ten Actions in Ten Weeks
As part of Safe Climate Perth's No new coal campaign, we are planning "ten actions in ten weeks". See below for an outline. (Some details are yet to be released.)
Action 1: Campaign Launch
40 people participated in our campaign launch in blustery conditions. Click the link for photos.
Action 2: "Letters to the editor" push
We were calling for a flurry of letters to the editor of local newspapers over the first week of the campaign to raise the issue of the new coal-fired power stations. You don't have to stop now though. Feel free to send more letters to the editor and send them to Safe Climate too!
Action 3: Conservation Week stalls
Including at the Cruelty Free Festival.
We attended several Conservation Week events. A busy stall at the vibrant Cruelty Free Festival meant we reached the milestone of 2000 signatures on the petition!
Action 4: Community festivals & events and big day of stalls
We had such a great response to the No New Coal petition at the Cruelty Free Festival, and in spring there are so many street festivals and events that we decided to concentrate our efforts on stalls at community events, and to organise one big day of stalls in local shopping centres and shopping strips. (This replaced the November 7 doorknocking action.)
See here for more info or contact us (details below).
Action 5: Renewable Energy Forum
We're campaigning against coal and all fossil fuels. Renewable energy is the alternative.
2-4pm, Sat 13 November. Perth Activist Centre, 15/5 Aberdeen Street, East Perth (next to McIver station).

Action 6: Poster campaign
Calling all artists, graphic designers, students, teachers and creative enthusiasts: we need you!
Can you design a poster to support the campaign to stop the expansion of coal projects in WA? Something inspiring, something confronting, something catchy, something informative, something funny.... something others can download and print to raise awareness about the issues, something we can display at the Safe Climate is a Human Right rally.
See here for more info.
Action 7: Speak-out and banner drop
This will be timed to coincide with the beginning of the Cancun Climate Talks (COP 16) in Mexico.
Details to be advised
Action 8: P*O*L*I*C*E raid Verve Energy
Check out the video - it was a lot of fun!
Action 9: Say "no" to proposed Margaret River coal mine
Action 10: RALLY: A safe climate is a human right
Human Rights Day rally where the petitions will be presented.
[We need your help with these actions. Please contact Safe Climate or phone 0417 319 662 or 0400 878 322 to find out how you can get involved.]
