Safe Climate Phase Out Coal Campaign strategy meeting
City Farm, 1 City Farm Place, East Perth (just next to Claisebrook station)
To confront climate change, WA should be planning to rapidly increase energy efficiency, phase out coal, and ramp up renewables, with retraining and job security for affected workers. Instead, the state government is planning a massive expansion in the number of coal-fired power stations from 4 in Collie now to 9 by 2013.
We are holding a coal campaign strategy meeting and need your involvement, ideas and enthusiasm. Please feel free to come along and bring your friends (and a plate to share).
Phone Kamala 0417 319 662, Peter 0438 940 386 for more info.
SATURDAY 24 OCTOBER, 12 NOON
Less than 350
Safe Climate is organising a <350 action on Sat 24 October at State Parliament House.
With plans by the state government to more than double coal pollution in Collie, this action will help launch a campaign to phase out coal and ramp up renewables.
The action will involve iconic imagery and creative beauty.
Organised by Safe Climate Coalition. All welcome.
More details (including publicity material) to come soon. Check: http://www.safeclimate.org.au/less-than-350 for updates on this action.
(This action is registered on the 350.org website here. If you can't make this event, check out some of the other 350 events happening in Perth.)
24 October 2009 - 12:30pm - 1:30pm
Darlington 350 human chain to spell "<350"
The Hills Climate Action Group is calling on all local school children to form a human chain to spell out "<350" on Darlington Oval at 12:30 pm on Saturday October 24.
School kids are encouraged to bring all the members of their family to be part of the action, because kids have the right to tell their parents to stop climate change.
We hope that kids will paint banners or bring other art works to tell the world what they feel and to represent their school.
THURSDAY DECEMBER 17 - SUNDAY DECEMBER 20
Camp for Climate Action.
Workshops and direct action designed to stop coal-mining and its use for energy in Collie, the coal capital of WA. http://climatecampwa.wordpress.com
