In 2006, the World Wildlife Fund rated Cuba as the only country to have achieved social and environmental sustainability. Australia
and the
World:
what next?
TUESDAY 13 JULY, 1-4PM

Webb Lecture Theatre, Geography Bldg, UWA
Organised by the Institute of Advanced Studies, UWA

After the widely perceived failure of the Copenhagen climate change conference, the absence of any post-2012 international climate change agreement and an Australian emissions trading scheme now deferred until at least 2013, what’s next for climate change policy in WA, Australia and the world?

Be part of National Day of Action to Replace coal with renewable energy! SATURDAY 17TH JULY, 9AM-1PM

Calling all concerned community members, eco activists and volunteer media crew! The Conservation Council and Safe Climate Perth are seeking volunteers for our REPLACE COAL WITH RENEWABLE ENERGY! action on Saturday 17th July.

We are looking for 15 volunteers in total, to meet up at Conservation Council Headquarters- Lotteries house, West Perth at 9am.

From there, we will be getting geared up to head into Perth, armed with banners, no coal statements and a camera crew, finishing up at around 1pm in the city.

The mission? We want the people of Perth to tell us what they think about the continued operation of Australia’s most polluting power station- Hazlewood, in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley, and tell them about the national campaign to shut it down and replace it with renewable energy!

This day will be an opportunity to ask people what they think about the Barnett Government’s decision to allow three new coal fired power stations here in WA!

We are looking for enthusiastic people to hand out sign on statements, hold banners and talk to the public about the campaign.

We are also looking for people with media skills to help film and help with the technical aspects of post film production.

If you think that you would like to be involved in the July 17th day of action here in Perth, please contact:
